Here at Urban Circle Newport we believe Storytelling and community development go hand in hand. So with the support of Bectu, Cult Cymru, Equity, The Musicians Union, Writers Guild of GB, Ziba Creative, Creative Lives, Engage Cymru, Newport Fusion, Ffilm Cymru and Welsh Government Urban Circle are building a solidarity network in preparation for new productions in 2022 and beyond. We aim to make multi media projects accessible for young people as well as help facilitate a network that believe in the importance of care in fostering safe work practises for all involved.

Post Covid our media landscape here in Wales is changing rapidly. At Urban Circle Newport we would love for more creative individuals to participate and help build a solidarity network. One that is wanting to learn, be open minded and radical in the way we produce creative media together. Safe, kind and representational practise is being encouraged here. Where we understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing especially for creative practitioners in precarious labour situations.

We can tell and listen to more authentic stories if we are willing to learn from each other. So we are calling all story tellers, world builders, creative people. A networking event is being held on Thursday July 21st 6pm at ‘The Place in Newport for those that welcome a more social and physical way of connecting 🙂 More info coming soon.

Urban Circle Network and CULT Cymru have received funding from Ffilm Cymru’s Foot in the Door Programme to organise some training for those interested in the TV and Film Industry and are looking for people who may want to be involved.
