Inspired by the real life rise of Belfast rap trio Kneecap, this riotous film blends fiction, biography, and cultural satire. Rapping in Irish and refusing to play by industry rules, Kneecap emerge as an unlikely icons who challenge British authority, cultural erasure, and respectability politics.
The film follows the group’s chaotic ascent fuelled by youth rebellion, humour, and an unfiltered love of language. Beneath the wild energy lies a serious exploration of identity, colonial history, and what it means to claim space in a culture that often marginalises you.
At 105 minutes, Kneecap is loud, irreverent, and sharply intelligent. It is a celebration of creative resistance and cultural survival.
Audiences are invited to stay after the screening for an optional post film chat at Circle Screening to discuss music, language, and political art.
