Movies, Munch and Make at Newport Food Festival 2026 for FREE
Free Family Films, Food and Crafts at Newport Food Festival 2026
Urban Circle Newport is joining Newport Food Festival for a special day of free family films, international food and creative activities at CIRCLE, our city-centre venue.
Movie, Munch and Make will take place on Saturday 3 October 2026, from 10am until 2pm. The event is supported by Newport Food Festival and has been designed for families of all ages.
Breakfasts from around the world
Participants from Urban Circle’s weekly community breakfast will help to prepare, cook and serve breakfasts inspired by cultures from around the world.
Reflecting the diversity of Newport, the menu will offer a nutritious and tasty selection of home-cooked food. Some ingredients will also be picked from our Urban Grows community garden. Breakfast will be served across two café-style sittings on the ground floor of CIRCLE, with tea and coffee also available.
Two free family film screenings
We will be showing two food-filled animated adventures throughout the day.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs < Book here
Morning screening. Running time: Approximately 90 minutes
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 < Book here
Afternoon screening. Running time: Approximately 95 minutes
Both films contain some mild comic threat and mild language or humour. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Munch and make
Families who would like to get creative can join food-themed, intergenerational craft activities led by Urban Circle Arts Curator Rachel Jones. The activities will be suitable for different ages, giving children and adults the chance to make something together.
Throughout the venue, our screens will also share positive messages about food dignity, sustainability and food justice, connecting with the priorities of Newport City Council and local partners.
Plans for the day also include music and a juice bar on CIRCLE’s roof terrace.
Come into the city centre, discover food from across Newport’s communities and enjoy a free film and creative day with the family.
